  1. How old do you have to be to climb?
    SolidRock Gym has no age restrictions for the climber, however, in order to belay you must be at least 10 years of age and demonstrate proper belay technique to a staff member before climbing.
  2. Why do you use rocks instead of padded flooring?
    SolidRock Gym selected smooth river rocks as an eco-friendly and reusable source for absorbing a climber’s fall. The rocks allow the force exerted by a fall to be evenly absorbed and spaced by the landing surfaces. Crash pads are also available for use by boulder climbers.
  3. How do you mark your routes?
    We mark our routes with colored tape. Every color represents a graded path (“route”) for the climber to ascend. Virtually every top rope has four routes-one of which is very easy; the remaining routes vary from easy (5.7) to difficult (5.12+).
  4. What should I bring for my party reservation?
    SolidRock Gym does not provide any utensils or party snacks. Group reservation hosts are more than welcome to bring any non-alcoholic beverages and food of their choice.
  5. Do I have to use climbing shoes?
    Day users are not required to use rock climbing shoes; however, climbing shoes give the advantage of a stiff sole making it easier to climb on a variety of climbing holds.
